Curcumin has great potential in the treatment of osteoarthritis according to the research progress in recent years. This paper reviews the relationship between curcumin and osteoarthritis, and its mechanism of action is discussed in detail. Studies have shown that curcumin can exert therapeutic effects on osteoarthritis through a variety of pathways, such as reducing inflammatory reactions, inhibiting articular cartilage damage, promoting chondrocyte proliferation and inhibiting pain caused by arthritis. Curcumin can also exert its therapeutic effects by regulating related signaling pathways, such as Wnt/β-catenin and NF-κB signaling pathways. However, further in-depth studies are needed on the mechanism of action of curcumin, especially the interaction between it and other molecules in the pathological process of osteoarthritis. As a potential drug for the treatment of osteoarthritis, curcumin has great prospects and application value. Therefore, further in-depth study of the mechanism of action of curcumin will help enrich our understanding of the pathophysiological process of osteoarthritis and provide new ideas and strategies for the clinical treatment of osteoarthritis.
