Fulgoraecia melanoleuca (Fletcher) is a key nymphal and adult ecto-parasitoid of sugarcane leafhopper Pyrilla perpusilla (Walker). The storage of F. melanoleuca eggs and cocoons at different temperatures (0, 5, 10 and 15 °C) for various durations (1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 wk) was compared with the ideal temperature (27 °C) for the overall fitness of the parasitoid. Negative effects on the fitness traits (emergence rate, pre-emergence period, longevity, sex ratio) and reproductive parameters were observed upon cold storage of eggs and cocoons. The detrimental effects increased with a decrease in temperature levels and an increase in storage duration. The cocoons of F. melanoleuca can be stored at 10 °C for 1 week and at 15 °C for 1–2 wk as these temperature regimes and storage time exhibited negligible negative effects on developmental and reproductive parameters. Similarly, eggs can be stored at 15 °C for 1 week with least negative effect on the hatchability and incubation period of the parasitoid.
