The potential use of Stellaria alsine var.undulata extracts and its fractions as cosmeceutical ingredients were investigated by studying their antioxidant, anti-aging, anti-inflammatory, and whitening effects. Results demonstrated that Stellaria alsine var.undulata possesses free radical scavenging abilities, enhances the activity of superoxide dismutase, and thus, protects cells from oxidative damage.Furthermore, extracts and fractions inhibited elastase, which degrades collagen and elastin, thus promoting skin elasticity.Additionally, they suppressed tyrosinase activity, reducing melanin production and potentially brightening skin tone. Finally, the extracts and fractions displayed anti-inflammatory properties by downregulating nitric oxide production. In conclusion, our findings suggest that Stellaria alsine var.undulata has promising potential for cosmeceutical applications due to its multifaceted beneficial effects on skin health. However, further research is warranted to elucidate its mode of action, and its efficacy should be substantiated in human clinical trials.
