Building a new type of power system is the key to realizing China's "dual carbon" goal and promoting the green and low-carbon energy transformation. To explore the path of power system transformation, this paper constructs a high-resolution new power system model, combining long-term capacity planning with hourly operation simulation. The results indicate that the power system will achieve carbon peak around 2030, and the focus of energy investment at different stages should be adjusted. In the future, new energy generation will dominate, with wind power becoming the main energy source, followed by photovoltaic power, nuclear power, and hydropower. Faced with the problems of high randomness and high security risk of new energy power generation, coal-fired power will continue to undertake the main role of peak shaving and balancing in the power system.
