A year ago, the Chapter activities showcased at the inaugural Control Systems Society (CSS) Day underlined the vibrant activities of CSS Chapters around the world and their valuable contributions to members.Indeed, it is through these local or regional Chapters that many members most frequently engage with the CSS.The Chapter activities organized by volunteers worldwide serve to promote control theory and practice, complementing international CSS conferences as well as regular university department events.Nonetheless, not every CSS member belongs to an active Chapter, and we have recently received several curious questions concerning the opportunities offered by and to Chapters. This column aims to answer some of those questions by explaining the role of Chapters within the CSS but also highlighting the opportunities offered to members through Chapters and encouraging the formation and (re-)activation of Chapters.
