This paper proposes a new high step-up DC-DC converter that can be applied to the renewable energy power systems. The circuit configuration of the converter integrates a modified interleaved boost converter and mirrored dual voltage multiplier modules to increase voltage gain and reduce voltage stresses on the power switches and diodes. The proposed converter adopts interleaved operation with a phase shift of 180°. The interleaved parallel input structure shares the input current and reduces the input current ripple. The series output structure increases the voltage gain. The high voltage gain is achieved without operating at extremely large duty ratio. The low voltage stress on power switches can use low-voltage-rating and low on-resistance MOSFETs to reduce the conduction losses. The leakage inductances of the coupled inductors help to alleviate reverse recovery problem of diodes and reduce the reverse recovery losses. The leakage energy of the coupled inductors can be recycled to avoid the voltage spike problem. Therefore, the converter is suitable for high voltage gain, high efficiency and high power applications. Finally, a 1000 W prototype circuit with 36–400 V conversion is implemented to validate the performance of the proposed converter.
