This abstract introduces a novel method of building cryptographic substitution boxes (S-boxes) through the use of cellular automata's dynamic behaviour.Cellular automata rules govern the nonlinear evolution of a twodimensional grid that represents the input space, producing a distinct and cryptographically secure S-box.Iterative grid evolution is used in the construction process, which emphasizes chaotic and nonlinear behaviour. The S-box output is used to retrieve the final state. To withstand cryptographic attacks, particular focus is placed on achieving high non-linearity and confusion.Thorough testing guarantees that the final S-box satisfies strict security requirements. This testing includes typical cryptographic assessments and validation against known threats. This novel approach, based on the dynamics of cellular automata, opens up a viable path for boosting the cryptographic strength of encryption algorithms throughout the realm of information security.
