This paper explores power definitions for polyphase power systems with symmetrical or asymmetrical nonsinusoidal voltages and currents. Utilizing the regression model, the paper derives definitions for apparent, active, reactive, scattered, and unbalanced powers. Additionally, expressions for total power factor and displacement power factor are formulated based on the Pearson regression coefficient. The application of the proposed method is illustrated through examples, encompassing single-phase, three-phase three-wire, and three-phase four-wire systems with symmetrical or asymmetrical nonsinusoidal voltages and currents. The results indicate that the regression model serves as a straightforward and efficient approach for power calculations, yielding results consistent with widely recognized power definitions.
