In today's society, characterized by an aging population and a declining birthrate, there is a need for early detection, prevention, and improvement of frailty in both physical and mental functions. The condition occupies a middle ground between 'healthy states' and 'states requiring nursing care.' To address this, we have developed a virtual calligraphy system using haptic sense as one of our support systems. The system uses haptic devices to provide users with feelings similar to those of actual calligraphy, and it can measure the deviations of lines from models and the pressure of strokes for the early detection, prevention, and improvement of frailty. This paper presents an analysis of the results from a usability study of the system, focusing on end-users aged 40 years or older.
