In the testing of low extension ballistic missiles, optical measurement equipment is often used to provide external ballistic velocity measurement results for the evaluation of missile ballistic flight performance. Due to the fact that velocity parameters are obtained through differential solutions of coordinate parameters, the measurement error has not been determined for a long time. It is generally believed that the accuracy of velocity measurement is one order of magnitude higher than that of coordinate accuracy. This article evaluates the accuracy of the speed measurement model through the derivation of the model, using two methods: variable difference method and direct derivative of the model, and conducts simulation analysis using measured data. The results indicate that this method theoretically breaks through the current situation of relying on experience to estimate velocity error, and has high guiding significance for evaluating the accuracy of external ballistic test data processing.
