Case study demonstrates knowledge graph-based recommender system integration for programming instruction in postgraduate students, highlighting potential pedagogical transformation.
There is an increasing interest in engineering pedagogy to design a knowledge graph-based recommender system and apply it to help with programming skills teaching. The emergence of artificial intelligence brings the knowledge graph as a pivotal tool for research and learning in the information age. This study aims to explore the process of the recommender system design and apply it in engineering pedagogy spanning from conceptualizing students' abstract learning ideas to addressing their practical challenges. The subject of the study is postgraduate students from two different teaching styles universities. The case study is used as the main research method to collect both quantitative and qualitative data. TP ACK Framework is applied and followed as the theoretical framework in both the technical system designing process and the programming skills teaching process. The limitations of the study and how future work can make up the research gaps in the current stage are discussed. It explored a significant research area with the potential to drastically change the pedagogical methods in engineering pedagogy.
