Generally, conversion from fixed DC to variable AC require two stage conversion devices, due to this two stage conversion process the complexity of control of converter raising, more no of switching devices require, cost of converters increases and Total harmonic distortion (THD) having more. Based on the above drawbacks many researchers have been introduced various Multilevel inverters (MLI) which have (N-1) switching devices for N level inverter. Hence here a single stage conversion circuit of multilevel inverter (MLI) is proposed. it has ability to operate as five level inverter and seven level inverters with less semiconductor devices and the lower THD of an output equate to two stage conversion devices and other conventional MLIs. The controllability of the inverter can be implemented by concept of Sinusoidal Pulse width Modulation (SPWM) technique. The validity of the inverter can be evaluated based on fewer semiconductor devices, simple operation, less THD of an output voltage and current. Its functionality could potentially be verified with the MATLAB/Simulink tool.
