Detection and correction of antenna array element failure is an important aspect of real-life communication systems. Large antenna arrays consist of multiple radiating elements which provide high directivity, low side lobe levels (SLL) and narrow beam width however there are always some chances that one or more faulty elements malfunction due to continuous usage of such system leading to failure of a single or multiple elements in the array. The failure leads to degradation of the array performance by enhancing the SLL and reducing the directivity. Thus in this research article, an automatic mechanism is proposed that will recover the failed radiation pattern by implementing different metaheuristic techniques. The proposed technique is simpler, efficient, and provides affordable solutions to real-life communication applications such as beamforming, satellite communication, aircraft or radar systems.
