Abstract The modern passenger aircrafts are required to meet high standards of comfort for passengers, whom spend a large amount of time in the cabin during the flight. The climate and noise inside the aircraft cabin are some of the important comfort parameters. In the search for new insulation materials, Vacuum Insulation Panels (VIP) were chosen due to their very low thermal conductivity. As part of the integration of the VIPs into the structure of the interior panels, it was found that the thermal conductivity of the total sandwich structure of the interior is 3–6 times less than the values of the conventional structures, thereby causing great interest in the usage of these materials for the aircraft cabin. This article focuses on studying the acoustic properties of the new structures with integrated vacuum insulation. As part of this analysis, sound transmission loss tests were carried out, which showed that the novel interior structures have promising acoustical properties.
