The aim of the study is to compare the parameters of luminaires based on conventional light sources with LED luminaires and to design a LED lighting device. In carrying out the study, classical mathematical analysis methods were used. The measurement results were processed using the mathematical statistics methods. For elaborating the LED lighting device, the GKU16-70-001 Leader luminaire was chosen as an analogue. The sequence of designing a LED lighting device is given with substantiating the choice of each structural element. The proposed luminaire model has been designed for street lighting. A conclusion can be drawn from an analysis of the study results that by using the proposed LED luminaire, it is possible to implement street part lighting projects that meet all requirements posed to them. Given the same road section, a project based on the proposed LED luminaire makes it possible, with the fewest number of lighting devices, to produce a lighting scene with the highest brightness distribution uniformity equal to 0.73 against 0.58 in the project based on the GKU16-70-001 Leader luminaire, as well as the highest limiting brightness distribution uniformity equal to 0.67 against. 0.65. The threshold brightness increment in the lighting project based on the proposed LED luminaire is also lower than that of the project based on GKU16-70-001 Leader: 6 against 10.
