STARLESS'24: 3rd Workshop on Serverless computing for pervasive cloud-edge-device systems and services -Welcome and Committees Welcome message of the *LESS 2024 workshop organizersWe are thrilled to welcome the attendees of the third edition of the workshop series on serverless computing for pervasive cloud-edge-device systems and services (LESS), in Biarritz, France. After the first edition in 2022, held online due to COVID-19 restrictions, and a crowded live edition in 2023 in Atlanta (GA), USA, the workshop has now reached a mature phase, confirming the interest of the PerCom community on the core topics of LESS, that is serverless computing and the Function-as-a-Service programming model, in a context of pervasive systems and applications.Serverless technologies have remained so far confined within the realm of cloud computing, but this is changing fast, with serverless/edgeless/deviceless paradigms being adopted more and more in decentralized and distributed systems thanks to the flexible Function-as-a-Service (FaaS) programming model and their ability to efficiently adapt to changing environments. Our ambition through *LESS 2024 is to raise awareness of serverless opportunities within pervasive computing and their associated open research challenges. We aim to lead the way for further research activities in this emerging area, with potentially high impact on the market of the Internet of Things (IoT), smart cities, industrial automation, mobile health, and so on.We thank the TPC members for their timely and professional efforts in reviewing the submissions received, which resulted in a technical program with five very high-quality papers covering the topics of efficient orchestration and job offloading, energy-aware optimization for serverless platforms in general, as IoT services in particular, and a practical use case on digital mobility. Moreover, we would like to thank Christian Becker for his inspiring keynote speech on "From Grid to Cloud to Edge -what's next?".We also thank the PerCom organizers and the PerCom workshop co-chairs, Eirini Eleni Tsiropoulou and Gabriele Civitarese, for their continued support and assistance in all the organization phases. Finally, we thank all the authors and workshop attendees for their contributions and participation.
