The enormous demand for wireless traffic is leading researchers to utilize the huge bandwidth for higher data transmission and larger capacity channel modeling for the new wireless standard 5G.In this paper, an approach for modeling a channel using a standardized and widely accepted tool known as 3GPP spatial channel modeling is presented.Channel modeling is done particularly in urban microcell environments, to ensure accurate representation and reliable assessment of wireless communication systems.Channel modeling is mainly focused on the street canyon layout in Chengdu obtained from an Open Street map, simulating the wireless propagation characteristics at a frequency of 73 GHz.This paper underscores the significance of employing a standardized model like 3GPP spatial channel modeling for urban microcell environments, emphasizing its benefits over research-centric approaches like NYUSIM.The analysis evaluates the channel capacity and path loss under both line-of-sight and non-line-of-sight conditions and this demonstrates higher channel capacity, highlighting its potential for supporting high-capacity wireless communication in urban environments. The results reveal significantly lower path loss values for the 73 GHz frequency band compared to 28 GHz, indicating favorable propagation characteristics. This paper is implemented by using MATLAB software.
