Radiance measurements from a geostationary hyperspectral infrared sounder are essential for monitoring and forecasting the development of atmospheric mesoscale events. These observations not only provide detailed atmospheric temperature and humidity profiles, but also provide information of three-dimensional (3D) horizontal winds. Using CMA-MESO and CMA-GFS separately, this study assimilates three-dimensional horizontal winds derived through tracking the moisture features from Geosynchronous Interferometric Infrared Sounder (GIIRS) onboard Fengyun-4A and FengYun-4B satellites. And the influence on high impact weather forecast will be discussed. The results show that the assimilation of three-dimensional horizontal winds has a positive effect on typhoon track prediction, both regional and global assimilation system.
