The article is devoted to the analysis of legal provision of combating terrorism. It has been established that the world community recognizes the danger of extremism. The content of extremism as a socio-legal phenomenon is determined. It was established that among scientists there is no unity of views on the understanding of extremism. The international aspect of the problem of combating extremism is highlighted. The main scientific approaches to the understanding of legal support for combating extremism are summarized. On the basis of this, proposals for the adoption of a special law on combating extremism have been formulated.
