The decentralized energy trading platforms are being considered as the best alternate to the ageing power grid. These platforms have the ability to transform the energy sector entirely by enhancing sustainability, flexibility and efficiency. But due to decentralized operation, the reliability of the participating energy users, is still a questionable avenue in these sort of platforms. Immutability, transparency, and traceability of the created transactions are all reliability-enhancing features that may be ensured with the use of the distributed ledger technology such as blockchain. Additionally, by using a trust-based consensus method, both, confidence of the energy prosumers and the involvement of the energy consumers may be significantly increased. A trust-based consensus mechanism implemented using multiple layers been designed and developed in this research work, to facilitate the decentralized energy trading process. This secure and robust decentralised energy trading environment will help the decentralized energy trading process, its true potential. The proposed mechanism is resistant to cyber-security threats and it maintains the confidentiality and integrity of sensitive data being generated during trading process. It is evident from the results that such a consensus method will increase energy user participation and overall confidence, while still being secure from the prospect of cyber-security.
