In this paper, we present an evaluation of trickle timer algorithms based on the RPL protocol under uncertainty channel. To achieve the objective of the smart grid in which the trickle timer should trick the DIO transmission or suppression appropriately according to the health of low-memory devices such as smart meters. Under uncertainty channel, the existing trickle timer algorithms immediately activate the route maintenance process once the uncertain condition is detected. In practice, the power of noise which encounters the transmission signal may uncertain may vary ranging from 0 to 2 dB. Therefore, the uncertain behavior affects the trickle timers' process significantly. From the simulation results, the network lifetime and packet delivery ratio (PDR) reduce according to the strength of the uncertainty. Once the energy-aware adaptive trickle timer takes workload and transmission performance into the account, this trickle timer can extend the network lifetime more than the original trickle timer which determines only the transmission performance. On the other hand, EEAT shows packet delivery ratio higher than the original trickle timer.
