Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), encompassing Crohn's disease (CD) and ulcerative colitis (UC), is characterized by chronic inflammation of the gastrointestinal tract, leading to debilitating symptoms and long -term complications. Conventional therapies have improved outcomes, but many patients experience disease flares and inadequate response. Emerging therapies offer novel targets and treatment modalities to address unmet needs in IBD management. This systematic overview examines the current landscape of emerging therapies, including biologics, small molecules, and cellular therapies, highlighting their mechanisms of action, efficacy, safety profiles, and clinical trial data. By synthesising evidence from recent literature, this review aims to provide insights into the evolving treatment paradigm for IBD and its potential impact on patient care.
