An organic copolymer P(o-DATh) was utilized for the detection of aluminium ions. The reported molecule showed fluorescence quenching on the addition of the aluminium ions with the LOD and LOQ values 0.04 ppm and 0.12 ppm. The P(o-DATh) was also checked for selectivity in the presence of the fifteen metal ions and was found very selective for aluminium ions.
