Background \ In the past few years, there has been increasing concern over developing efficient and applicable preventive models with the goal of decreasing the incidence of injuries in soccer players. Objective To prove the efficacy of the enforcement of a preventive model for injuries, in soccer players, between 14 and 21 years old. Design Descriptive, observational, longitudinal, retrospective. Setting Athletes who compete in the elite youth tournaments of the Argentine Soccer Association. Participants A follow up of 2087 players was carried out during seasons 2009 to 2019. Interventions The plan was designed based on the epidemiological results Core Stability Training Static and dynamic stability Eccentric strengthening of hamstring, adductors and quadriceps. Lateral rotator group strengthening. Posterior muscle chain flexibility. Main Outcome Measurements Injury area. Injured anatomical structure. Mechanism of production (traumatic or overuse). Relative incidence of injury every 1000hs of exposure. Incidence in muscle- tendon injuries. Incidence in articular injuries. Severity of injury. Results during the intervention period, in comparison with the regular season, a decrease of 35,9% of the injuries was observed (RRR -p=0.04), with a maximal peak during 2015, were the decrease of injuries result in a 57% (RRR p= 0.01. There was a decrease in articular traumatic injuries (ACL-CML-Meniscus) At the beginning of the intervention (2010/2014), in injuries of ACL, CML, meniscus tears and ankle sprain, the relative injurie risk decreased, and after that, it remained so. Same results were observed for overuse muscle ruptures. There was a significant reduction at the beginning, and it maintained so after that period of time. Conclusion as a result of applying a preventive model, plus the trainer's awareness of it, the amount of injuries in youth football players, were significantly reduced. The impact of the model is even higher when sustained by consecutive seasons.
