It has been found, that multimedia presentation is an extremely common teaching tool that helps teachers to solve didactic problems and contributes to improving the efficiency of the educational process. The advantages and disadvantages of this teaching tool have been determined. The main advantages include increasing the motivation of higher education students to study; increasing the amount of educational information presented in the lecture; increasing the visibility of learning, which contributes to better memorization of the material; the possibility of repeating the most difficult moments of the lecture; realization of accessibility and perception of information through parallel presentation of information in visual and auditory modalities; organization of audience attention during the period of its biological decline due to the artistic and aesthetic performance of slidescreens or appropriate use of animation and sound effect; the creation of comfortable conditions in the work of teacher on the lecture, etc. Among the disadvantages are the high labor intensity of preparing presentations; the availability of skills in working with special software; non-compliance with the design requirements of the learning environment; overloading slides with text; abuse of special effects and excessive amounts of information; discrepancy between the pace of the lecture and the change of slide, etc. It is emphasized that multimedia presentations must comply with didactic principles; it is also mandatory to follow the methodology for preparing and using presentations in classroom training. Attention is focused on the importance of the content of multimedia presentations; the principles of preparing lectures using this teaching tool are considered, namely: the 30 degree principle, the principle of brevity, the "10/20/30" principle, the principle of information, the principle of informativeness, the principle of synchronization, the principle of five elements, the principle of font, the principle of color, the principle of animation and music.
