This paper proposes methods for using synchronized phasor measurements (SPM) to improve and implement protection against single-phase ground faults in 6-10 <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">kV</tex> cable networks. The theory of phasor measurements is considered and the concept of equivalent synchrophasors is introduced. The paper presents the results of modeling singlephase ground faults in cable networks with an arc suppression reactor, which confirm the advantages of using SPM for implementing protection algorithms based on assessing the admittance components of switchgear feeders. An algorithm for protection against ground faults based on equivalent synchrophasors is obtained. It allows for both local and centralized protection and improves admittance protection performance. Modeling shows the high efficiency of the developed algorithm.
