The purpose of this research paper is to study various geometric parameters of the evaporator, as well as proposed designs for its use in an adsorption solar refrigeration unit, which operates by adsorption of methanol on activated carbon. The study assessed convective heat transfer coefficients, thermal resistance on the evaporator walls, and methane temperature inside the evaporator for different diameters and different thicknesses of the ice layer. Since the cold generation process is not continuous, the evaporator had to receive the maximum amount of ice during the cold generation process. And just like the evaporation process with the adsorption process, the temperature reached inside the evaporator in methanol should not be too low, as this may slow down the adsorption process.
