Welcome to the 22nd ACM/IEEE International Symposium on Code Generation and Optimization (CGO '24), where we invite you to medieval Edinburgh.CGO provides a premier venue to bring together researchers and practitioners working at the interface of hardware and software on a wide range of optimization and code generation techniques and related issues. The conference spans the spectrum from purely static to fully dynamic approaches, reaches from pure software-based methods to specific architectural features, and also covers support for code generation and optimization.Following yearlong traditions, CGO is held in conjunction with three "sister" conferences: the 29th International Symposium on Principles and Practice of Parallel Programming (PPoPP), the 30th International Symposium on HighPerformance Computer Architecture (HPCA), and the 33nd International Conference on Compiler Construction (CC).This co-location is intended to foster community collaboration by bringing together software and hardware architects, programming language designers, and compiler writers. The keynotes are jointly hosted by all the conferences. The side-by-side technical program talks, workshops, and tutorials are all open to attendees from any of the other three conferences.Organizing such co-located events is a complex task, and we particularly thank the general chairs of CC (Gabriel Rodríguez Álvarez), HPCA (Boris Grot), and PPoPP (Michel Steuwer) for their openness to collaborate and dedication to organize our joint events. As CGO newly introduced two submission deadlines, our now four program committee co-chairs had to navigate new waters, set up the first submission deadline at the last minute, and overall navigated many unknown waters. We are deeply thankful to Michel Steuwer and Jingling Xue (first round) as well as Guilherme Ottoni and Fernando Pereira, for putting together a fantastic technical program. We are very happy with the impact the two submissions had on the CGO program and learned many valuable lessons that may help future CGO conferences. We would also like to thank all the authors who submitted papers, the external reviewers, and all the volunteers. Our two artifact evaluation chairs Andrés Goens and Roland Leißa led the artifact evaluation of our two submission rounds, and EunJung (EJ) Park chaired the ACM student research competition. We thank all three and the entire artifact evaluation committee for their exceptional work.We also have four exciting workshops and tutorials on the weekend before the conference thanks to Martin Kong, our workshop and tutorial chair.Workshops and tutorials are a major part and attraction of the CGO program and are possible thanks to the amazing work of our workshop and tutorial organizers.
