Objectives Therefore, in this study, we aimed to investigate the improvement of physical strength, body composition, and blood lipids through habit formation of a new type of walking exercise targeting obese female elementary school students. Methods In order to determine the effect of campaign walking exercise on the physique, physical strength, and blood lipids of obese female elementary school students, a total of 34 female students (16 in the walking exercise group and 18 in the control group) from 2 elementary schools in metropolitan city B, 5th and 6th grade students were surveyed for 12 weeks. As a result of conducting a walking campaign including a behavior modification program, the following conclusions were obtained. Results The physique category includes height, weight, waist circumference, and abdominal fat percentage; the physical strength category includes 50m running, sit-ups, standing long jump, sit-down forward bending, and 1,000m running and walking; and the blood lipid category includes TC, TG, HDL-C, and LDL. -C, Growth Hormone showed positive changes in the walking exercise group compared to the control group. It is believed that changes in eating habits and living environment through behavior modification programs can be a preemptive measure to prevent future cardiovascular disease, adult diseases, and psychological depression in obese female elementary school students. Conclusions Based on research showing that even the minimal activity of walking to and from school by students becomes the beginning of strengthening the body and increasing activity, the results of this study, which encouraged obese female elementary school students to participate in a voluntary campaign walking exercise, showed that their physical abilities improved. Like studies showing that students who experience change have higher psychological, mental, and social satisfaction in school life (Sang-yeol Park, 2015), this study also confirmed that positive changes in participating students occurred not only in physical factors but also in other factors.
