This study aims to analyze Korea's trade, investment, and business in Guatemala, exploring the country's environment and strategies for entering the Guatemalan market. With Guatemala's decision to join the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between Korea and the five Central American countries, this article examines Korea's cooperation with Guatemala, including trade and industry. It also explores ways in which Korea and Guatemala can cooperate in the areas of economic trade and investment.Guatemala, which has the largest population and economy among the members of the Central American Integration System, is expected to export agricultural products and minerals to Korea, while Korea is expected to export raw materials such as industrial products. With the Conclusion of Negotiation for the Accession of Guatemala to Korea-Central America Free Trade Agreement on September 5, 2013, the Korean government should strive for Guatemala's early accession and signing of the FTA.Economic cooperation between Korea and the six Central American countries should be further strengthened, including the procurement of raw materials for industries such as textiles and apparel, where Korean companies have a large presence in the region. As Guatemala's industrial policy is undergoing significant changes, the conclusion of the FTA between the two countries is an opportunity for mutual growth in future trade and investment, and Korean companies should take advantage of it.As Guatemala, the largest economy in Central America, additionally joins the Korea-Central America Free Trade Agreement, it is worthwhile for Korean companies to capitalize on its potential as a gateway to the Central American market, as many Guatemalan companies operate in all Central American countries.
