The predominance of the principle of historical unity over the historical gap within the framework of methodological schemes of genetic information and genetic breeding in the understanding of national history assumes the assessment of the Soviet era as the key link in understanding historical integrity, and the concepts of empire and the national state as a context. The article proves the validity of the defi nition of both monarchical and Soviet Russia as an «inverse empire» with an instrumental and pragmatic attitude of the government towards the state-forming people.
