Novel quantum-functional compounds that surpass the limits of traditional materials have been proposed. A prime example is the chiral superconductor that is applicable to quantum computing applications, realizing the ‘chiral superconducting state’ where Majorana quasi-particles are implemented. Another example is Kondo-Weyl semimetal, where correlated Kondo physics is intertwined with topological electronic band structure. The emergence of novel quantum-functional materials, which breaks the boundaries of traditional research fields and fosters convergence among diverse disciplines, stands as a key issue in condensed matter research. In this article, we introduce recent progress and future research direction in the study on extreme quantum matter and functionality.
