Electric energy is a necessary condition for the stable and orderly operation of today's society, so the issue of power quality has also received significant attention from scholars. With the development of power electronics technology and the widespread application of power electronics equipment, the harmonic problems that arise have become increasingly serious. At the same time, with the increasing demand for high power quality in industry, building a safe and reliable power grid environment has become particularly important. Therefore, harmonic and reactive power control of the power grid has become a hot research topic for scholars. Passive power filters are mainly composed of passive components such as capacitors, inductors, resistors, etc. Although the passive power filter has a simple structure and can effectively filter out certain harmonics, its structure has a large volume, and the design of capacitance and inductance parameters is relatively complex, which is prone to resonance problems. Its application has certain limitations. Compared with passive filters, active power filters have superior dynamic performance, fast response speed, small circuit size, and good compensation effect. Therefore, they are more widely used in circuits. So active filters are generally used in industry. In response to the problem of AC side current waveform distortion, this article calculates the parameters of the passive filter, which effectively eliminates 5th, 7th, and 11th harmonics, and compares them with the adopted active filter strategy, effectively improving the waveform quality of AC side current. Finally, experimental verification was conducted on the active filtering scheme, proving its correctness and superiority.
