Phase change failure is one of the common faults in UHV DC transmission system, which leads to voltage fluctuation, current inrush and other phenomena, thus causing serious harm to the safe operation of power grid. Studying the influencing factors of phase change failure is a prerequisite for suppressing phase change failure, and electrochemical energy storage at the sending end can suppress voltage fluctuation, mitigate current impact, improve system inertia, and play a certain buffer and auxiliary role in the case of phase change failure at the receiving end. Therefore, this paper establishes a set of UHV DC transmission system model and explores the influencing factors of phase change failure. Based on this model, the influence mechanism of electrochemical energy storage at the sending end on the phase change failure at the receiving end is investigated from the three aspects of output power size, inductance size and energy storage capacity. The results show that: (1) the larger the output force is, the lesser the degree of phase change failure is. (2) The larger the grounding inductance is, the lower the degree of phase change failure is. (3) The larger the energy storage capacity is, the lower the degree of phase change failure is.
