This paper presents a dual-band frequency reconfigurable antenna tailored for the unlicensed UWB frequency spectrum using a BAP65 pin diode. This antenna is fabricated using an FR4 substrate. Copper material was used in designing the top patch and ground plane in this antenna. The prescribed antenna size is 30mm×30mm×1.6mm. A total of four configurations of the antenna were presented on paper. The resonating antenna frequency in the ON ON condition is 7.3 GHz and 8.5 GHz. This antenna can obtain the reflection coefficient of -26.88 dB and -39.93 dB at the respective frequencies. A gain of 3.5 dBi can be observed in this antenna at the resonant frequency, which is accompanied by a radiation efficiency of 75.38%. This study highlights the design of the miniaturized reconfigurable antenna using an efficient pin diode as BAR65 such that the antenna resonates at multiple frequencies in the UWB frequency spectrum. The antenna can also be used as a band-notch filter.
