This research compares the input power and output power between an open loop DC-DC buck converter and Zero Voltage Switching buck converter. In this paper an open loop buck converter is designed for 20V input voltage and 10V output voltage and for the same parameters and filter circuit, corresponding zero voltage switching converter is designed. Comparing the two, it can be determined how efficiently and effectively ZVS functions using soft switching method by adding capacitor across the switch to reduce the switching losses in the converter. So that, if the buck converter is being used for longer period then switching losses should not affect the overall efficiency of the converter.
