In order to solve the problems of complex algorithms and long computational time in existing 3D scene reconstruction techniques, a 3D indoor scene reconstruction algorithm based on a single panoramic image was proposed. In this method, the 3D information of indoor scene is obtained from a single panoramic image and the layout model of indoor scene is reconstructed. It includes line segment detection, vanishing point estimation and segment grouping, detecting vertices in the image, and generating layout hypothesis through vertices. The layout assumes that the panoramic image is segmented into ground, wall, and ceiling areas. Finally, the 3D spatial layout of indoor scene is calculated by panoramic geometry. The experimental results show that the proposed algorithm can recover the 3D layout model of the indoor scene within one minute, and has good reconstruction efficiency. Conclusion: The panoramic image reconstruction algorithm can better obtain the 3D layout model of the indoor scene. The accuracy and precision of the reconstruction are closely related to the resolution of the image and the clarity of the contour segments in the image.
