There has been an increase in renewable energy for power generation worldwide, and various countries provide subsidies, leading to a rise in the number of consumers using electricity from photovoltaic (PV) systems. In the future, photovoltaic modules will be more efficient, sustainable power generation, and environmentally friendly. Solar PV systems suffer from various technical challenges, and hotspot generation is very prominent. Heat production on solar cells causes residual radiation, which reduces the power performance of solar panels. Suppose any one or more cells in a solar panel are shaded. In that case, shaded cells are produced whose initial overall Power is reduced to less than half of the Power (from the overall Power in the panel) due to leakage current flow in the shaded cells. However, the experiment was conducted with 100-watt rooftop solar panels. The results show that the solar panels were found to have poor output power due to leakage current flow under shaded conditions. Found that hotspot loss arises in solar panels. This paper aimed to analyse the detection and evaluation of hotspot loss in solar panels during an experiment on 100-watt solar panels on a rooftop. Experiments with and without bypass diodes in different months show reduced panel output power and efficiency due to the heating of solar panel cells.
