It is impossible, at this point, to deny the growing social, political and cultural acti- vity of women in Mexican history. Recent research includes a wide range of women's participation during different historical periods. That is why in this text I propose the analysis of Cartucho, by Nellie Campobello from a gender approach to describe how she represented in her stories the women who participated in the war events of the Mexican Revolution. Such an approach entails recognizing them as historical subjects who have been ignored and who in Campobello's novel constitute, so to speak, the (denied) center of the history of the Revolution.
