Descriptive-correlational analysis shows improved transportation efficiency in regional infrastructure, indicating economic and environmental benefits.
This study evaluates the economic and environmental benefits of concreting National Route 79 (N79) and Lim- Siocon Road in the Philippines. Employing a descriptive-correlational research design combined with regression analysis, the study examines the impact of improved road infrastructure on transportation efficiency, economic accessibility, and environmental sustainability. Findings reveal that the road concreting project has significantly reduced vehicle operating costs, improved business efficiency, and enhanced market access, leading to increased regional trade and job creation. The project has also contributed to environmental sustainability by reducing soil erosion, improving drainage systems, and mitigating air and water pollution through smoother road surfaces. Stratified random sampling was used to collect data from 150 local stakeholders, including business owners, agricultural producers, and environmental experts. The results indicate that while the project has produced immediate economic benefits, continuous monitoring and maintenance are essential to ensuring long-term environmental protection. The study recommends strengthening local policies, enhancing community participation, and investing in sustainable infrastructure practices to maximize the project’s impact on regional development and ecological balance.
