Phase field model predicts ductile fracture behavior in Al 6061 plates, highlighting key parameters affecting load response.
A phase field model for ductile fracture integrated with linear isotropic hardening is presented. The staggered algorithm for phase field model is employed for the implementation based on Abaqus subroutines. A v-notched specimen of Al 6061-T6 plate under uniaxial tension is studied. The force-displacement curves are compared with experiment to get the model parameters: length scale and plastic energy threshold. The two parameters have obvious influence on the load capacity response, but little influence on the crack patterns. In addition, the fracture simulations of a tension specimen and a shear specimen are performed to verify the model parameters. The results show that the experiments in literatures can be reproduced.
