Case study demonstrates modular restructuring of existing products in a special machinery company, highlighting new architecture.
This article aims to present a proposal for a method for modular restructuring of existing products, using DSM and Reverse Engineering as foundation. For this, a case study was carried out in a company that manufactures special machines, choosing an object of study that belongs to a line of product of the organization. Among the results achieved, it indicates the achieve of a new product architecture, but of the modular type, with new modules or groupings created through the DSM matrix. In addition, it is able to build a tree diagram of the object of study, using the created modules, connecting them to the conceptual solution and the macro functions of the product. As a result, a new subdivision was found with seven new modules that saw a new product architecture alternative and served as a basis for rebuilding the product at the main requirement.
