Study measures specific gravity and tracheid length in trunk versus branchwood of Pinus nigra, revealing significant differences.
Thirty Pinus nigra trees of a Turkish origin planted in the Kellogg Forest, Augusta, Michigan, were used to establish the trunk-branchwood relationship. The trunk-branchwood correlation coefficient for tracheid length was not significant, whereas that for specific gravity was 0 76. Trunkwood tracheid length and specific gravity were significantly greater than in branchwood. Forest Sci. 17:62-63.
