Research explores an automatic drilling system that improves drilling efficiency on titanium composite layers in aircraft flaps.
There are many components in aircraft flap products that have a titanium composite layer structure, which is difficult to process and has low drilling efficiency. Based on the situation of multiple types, small batches, and large processing ranges, an automatic drilling end effector was designed, and offline programming and simulation were implemented based on DELMIA. Flexible drilling process equipment was designed and manufactured, and an automatic drilling system was built and placed on an Automated Guided Vehicle (AGV). The automatic drilling process flow and process parameters were improved through flat plate testing experiments. Finally, drilling applications were completed on a titanium composite layer structure component of an aircraft flap. The automatic drilling system itself has the advantages of high flexibility, small space occupation, and good rigidity, and has achieved high drilling quality and efficiency in practical applications.
