This study explores cultural symbol translation and sports spirit communication in Yangjiang kites, indicating improved public engagement in events.
This study utilizes the intangible cultural heritage (ICH) item, Yangjiang kites, as a case study to investigate its cultural symbol translation mechanism and the communication efficacy of the sports spirit within the context of the 15th National Games and the National Para Games & Special Olympics. By constructing a dual-helix translation model encompassing "Form-Function" and "Emotion-Value" dimensions, it analyzes the innovative application pathways of Yangjiang kite elements within the visual systems and cultural activities of the sports events. Empirical research indicates that the creative translation of ICH symbols significantly enhances public recognition, emotional resonance, and behavioral participation regarding the sports event culture. The event platform promotes the living inheritance and innovative development of Yangjiang kites through four key pathways: cultural identity reinforcement, craftsmanship innovation impetus, industrial integration drive, and international communication expansion. The study proposes a translation strategy centered on "Traditional Core-Modern Expression" and a synergistic development model for "Event-ICH" integration, providing a theoretical framework and practical approach for the deep convergence of large-scale sports events and ICH preservation.
