This method shows how to improve seismic analysis with differentiated behavior factors in buildings, indicating potential structural enhancements.
The model of structures for seismic analysis, according to the most common method – linear response spectrum analysis, involves the definition of a behavior factor (a global force reduction factor). In specific cases, it may be proper to use different behavior factors for each direction or parts of the building. A method for seismic analysis of separate concrete buildings joined by a basement is proposed. A united 3D structural model under the consideration of differentiated behavior factors is commented in detail. In addition, a comparative analysis of the results with different stiffness of the individual elements of the structure is made.
