This analysis reveals the social and legal challenges faced by retired military personnel, highlighting issues of military recruitment and provision of pensions.
The article is devoted to the study of the social and legal status of retired military personnel and their family members in the 1870s and 1880s. Based on the materials of the Bolshe-Atninsky volost administration fund of the Kazan district, measures for military recruitment of lower ranks of the reserve during the Russian-Turkish War of 1877–1878 are considered, issues of providing pensions and benefits to both wounded and maimed retired officers themselves are revealed, as well as their families, providing them with tax benefits, etc. The author draws attention to the differences in the socio-legal status of the lower ranks of the reserve, who joined the army on recruitment, and the lower ranks, who were called up according to the Military Service Regulations of 1874, and concerns the issues of military personnel's adaptation to civilian life after being discharged from the army. The example of retired military personnel shows the growth of migration to cities and other places in order to find work. For citation: Faizrakhmanov I.Z.
