This article explores the spiritual and political legacy of St. Joseph Volotsky, focusing on his seminal work The Enlightener, in the context of modern challenges facing Russian society. The aim of the study is to identify the theological, philosophical, and moral aspects of his legacy and to analyze their relevance for strengthening legal consciousness, spiritual guidance, and law enforcement practices in contemporary Russia. Drawing on the writings of Joseph Volotsky, the legal framework of the Russian Federation, and contemporary scholarly research (by A.A. Makovsky, A.V. Kornev, A.I. Alekseev, among others), the article offers an interdisciplinary analysis of religious-legal thought and its applicability to current legal and cultural policy. The findings underscore the enduring significance of Volotsky’s doctrine for reinforcing the moral foundations of modern society and suggest pathways for integrating his ideas into practical legal implementation.
