Review summarizes exercise right heart catheterization's clinical applications for diagnosis and prognosis evaluation in pulmonary vascular diseases, indicating its potential benefits.
Exercise right heart catheterization (eRHC), as an invasive examination method, can detect early pulmonary vascular disease (PVD) in patients with connective tissue diseases, chronic thromboembolic pulmonary disease, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and other conditions by monitoring hemodynamic changes under exercise stress, and evaluating its therapeutic efficacy and long-term prognosis. In addition, exercise hemodynamics also contribute to disease severity and efficacy evaluation in patients with pulmonary hypertension. This review summarizes the clinical applications of eRHC in the early diagnosis, functional assessment, and prognostic prediction of PVD, and identifies the current landscape in its operation and popularization. The aim is to facilitate better management of patients with PVD.
