This article highlights AI's applications for precise diagnosis and individualized treatment of obstructive sleep apnea, suggesting enhanced management strategies.
Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) brings health burden globally due to its association with cardiovascular disorders, metabolic syndrome, and cognitive dysfunction, etc. The unmet needs of OSA include early screening, precision therapy, and comprehensive management. Current approaches of monitoring and treatment can't meet the demands of the high prevalence of OSA among population. Fortunately, the development of artificial intelligence (AI) now offers a way to address this challenge. In this article, we first introduced the fundamentals and medical applications of AI. Then, the progress of AI applications in OSA was summarized. Finally, we discussed the future use of AI in OSA, including prevention strategies, precise diagnosis, individualized treatment, and management. Meanwhile, we should keep pace with the iterative development of AI, exploring new directions and strategies.
